The Romanian Foundation
for Democracy is an independent, non-governmental non-partisan, non-profit
organization, created in November 1992, at the initiative of the President
of Romania, Prof. Dr. Emil Constantinescu.
The aim of the Romanian Foundation for
Democracy is to contribute to the development of a progressive, democratic
and prosperous Romania by means of:

promoting the dialogue between civil society
and political class representatives;

informing and educating young politicians;
-
organizing public debates on the main problems
of Romania’s development;
-
organizing public debates and promotional
activities related to environmental protection and environmental education;
-
maintaining the contacts among various groups
interested in the progress of market economy and of democracy, both at
the national level and with similar persons, groups and institutions from
countries with a democratic tradition;
-
cooperating with organizations, institutions
and persons that aim at objectives meant to develop democracy and the civic
spirit in Romania.
